Common problems
My progress disappeared
First thing to check: are you signed in to iCloud on this device? iCloud sync is optional, so if it’s switched off, or you’re signed into a different Apple Account, the game won’t find your save.
- Open Settings on your device, tap your name at the top, and confirm you’re signed in to the same Apple Account you played on before.
- Check that iCloud Drive is on for Farting Chicken under Settings → Apple Account → iCloud.
- Open the game and leave it on the home screen for a few seconds with a working connection. Syncing happens in the background and isn’t instant.
If iCloud was switched off when you played, the save exists only on that one device. In that case, deleting the app deletes it and it can’t be recovered. To free up space without losing a local save, use Offload App in iOS Settings rather than Delete App.
There’s no sound
Work through these in order:
- Tap Settings on the home screen and check that Sound FX is turned on.
- Check the silent switch on the side of your iPhone — if it’s flipped toward the back of the phone, the phone is muted.
- Turn the volume up while the game is open, so you’re adjusting media volume rather than ringer volume.
- Check whether Bluetooth headphones or a speaker are still connected somewhere else in the house.
Worth knowing: music and sound effects are separate toggles, and music starts off. If you want background music, switch it on in Settings.
The game is too hard, or too easy
Change the difficulty from the home screen. You can switch any time and nothing is lost.
- Easy: slower pace, more food, gentler bosses. Right for most players under eight.
- Normal: the standard game.
- Hero: longer levels and much tougher bosses. Hard enough to frustrate adults.
If one boss is the wall, drop to Easy for that fight and switch back afterward. That works fine.
The screen layout looks wrong or things are cut off
Try switching between portrait and landscape using the Screen toggle in Settings. The two modes have completely separate layouts. If something is still clipped, email me a screenshot and your device model. Those reports get fixed fastest.
The game crashes or freezes
First, force-quit and reopen: swipe up from the bottom of the screen, pause in the middle, then swipe the Farting Chicken card away. If it keeps happening, restart the device and make sure iOS is up to date.
Still crashing? Email me your device model, iOS version and roughly what you were doing. Crash reports do reach me automatically if you have iOS analytics sharing turned on, but a description from you is much more useful.
How do I turn off the fart sounds?
Fair enough. Settings, then Sound FX off. The game plays fine silently, and you can leave the music on.
How do I delete everything the game has stored?
Deleting the app removes the copy on that device. If you use iCloud sync, a copy also sits in your own iCloud account. To clear that too, go to Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Account Storage and remove the app’s data. Either way, none of it is ever stored on our side.
Still stuck? Get in touch
If none of the above sorted it, or you’ve found a bug, write to hello@fartingchicken.com. It’s a small operation, so replies usually take a couple of business days.
Bug reports genuinely do get fixed. The useful ones include:
- Your device (for example “iPhone 14”) and iOS version
- Which area or level it happened in
- What happened, and what you expected instead
- A screenshot or screen recording if you can grab one
Feature requests are welcome too. Already on the list from players: an Android version and more areas.
Privacy questions
The app collects nothing about you. The only thing it ever sends anywhere is your own game progress, to your own iCloud account, and we have no way to read it. The privacy policy covers this in full, and the parent guide explains what is and isn’t in the game.
